White gold is a gold alloy, often finished with rhodium. Price it by its karat mark and net alloy grams: a bright white surface does not mean pure gold, platinum or a higher gold content.

Rhodium changes the finish, not the karat
Rhodium plating gives many white gold pieces a bright white surface. As that finish wears, a warmer underlying colour can appear. Neither the fresh finish nor the exposed colour establishes how much gold the alloy contains; use a quality mark or an assay.
White gold can be alloyed with nickel or palladium, along with other metals. Two pieces can therefore have the same gold fraction and different alloy recipes. A 14K white ring and a 14K yellow ring with equal net alloy weight contain the same amount of gold.
Read 14K, 585 and 750 separately
14K specifies 14/24 gold (about 58.33%); 585 specifies 58.5%, while 750 is 75%. Select the stamped basis directly. White colour does not turn 585 into 750, and a rhodium finish is not a separate gold purity.
Palladium white gold and platinum
A palladium-bearing white alloy still needs its gold karat for the gold calculation. To assess palladium as well, obtain the actual composition and value that fraction separately. Do not price all non-gold material as palladium. Platinum jewellery marked Pt or Plat uses a different metal quote.
