Do not assign a 1967 or 1968 alloy from the year alone
The 1967 mackerel dime and bobcat quarter were made in .800 and .500 silver versions. Choose a confirmed composition, or calculate both scenarios separately while you have the coin assessed. A scale reading can record wear, but it does not by itself establish fineness.
For 1968 dimes and quarters, establish whether the coin is silver or nickel before using a silver preset. The circulation 50-cent piece and dollar ended their .800 period in 1967; their 1968 nickel successors do not use these silver entries. Modern silver proofs are separate products.
The small silver five-cent coin ends in 1921. Do not value the later larger five-cent nickel using that silver specification.
