A .999 silver round is 99.9% silver by alloy weight. Value a weighed round using its total mass; use the full stated silver content when its maker guarantees a fine-ounce size.

Enter total alloy mass, excluding packaging. A 999 stamp means multiply that mass by 0.999. Ordinary ounces are not troy ounces.

Rounds, coins and bars: the silver is priced by content

Rounds are privately issued bullion pieces without a currency denomination. A bullion coin is issued as legal tender; a bar uses a different shape. A round resembling an American Silver Eagle is not necessarily a US one-dollar coin.

Read the mint name, weight and fineness before valuing it. Silver-plated souvenirs need a coating assessment rather than their entire weight entered as .999. Design, condition and a seller’s premium do not change the fine-silver calculation.
