Peace dollar values for common lots
For a tube of 1922 or 1923 Peace dollars, count the coins and inspect surfaces and mintmarks before accepting one bulk offer. An album spanning the series needs a date-by-date check, especially for 1921 and 1928. Ask for a separate collector price for better pieces while using the silver total to compare the remaining lot.

- Liberty wears a radiate crown; read the date below the portrait.
- Use original dates 1921–1928 or 1934–1935.
- The reverse eagle rests above PEACE. Modern Peace dollars beginning in 2021 use a different silver standard.
Keep collector condition intact: do not clean a coin to identify it. Use measured weight for a worn collection.
Eligible Peace dollar issues
Original Peace dollars share the Morgan dollar’s silver standard, but the radiate crown and PEACE on the reverse identify this series. In 1921 both designs were issued. Modern Peace collector dollars are separate from the original circulating coins.
Anthony de Francisci’s Liberty and PEACE reverse
Anthony de Francisci’s design has Liberty wearing a radiate crown, with windblown hair. The reverse shows a perched eagle and the word PEACE beneath it. Original issues are dated 1921–1928 or 1934–1935, with no issues from 1929–1933. Look below ONE, near the eagle’s tail, for D or S; Philadelphia pieces have no mintmark.
High relief, scarce dates and condition
The 1921 Peace dollar was struck in high relief; the regular design was lowered in 1922. Keep a 1921 aside before selling by weight. A 1928 without a mintmark is the low-mintage Philadelphia issue, distinct from 1928-S. The 1934-S is particularly important in uncirculated condition. Recognised Peace VAM varieties can also warrant identification before a bulk sale.
