Metal weight converter (6 units)

Match the unit to the job

Use grams for a jewellery scale reading, troy ounces for bullion and metal spot quotes, and pennyweight when a jewellery buyer quotes in dwt. Grains help read older coin specifications. Ordinary ounces belong to the everyday avoirdupois system; choose oz only when that is the unit your scale displays.

This converts the weight you enter. Select a metal tab next to value the item with its karat or fineness.
